FAQ

Why does Fallcon not include role-playing games?

RPG's are not something that is of interest to those who organize this event. What you will notice is that all of the events that we host are boardgames and miniatures that we want to play. Additionally, we are well versed with this part of the gaming community and have the expertise to promote both boardgames and miniatures.

Why are traditional card games (Poker, Bridge, Hearts, etc.) or boardgames (Chess, Backgammon, Scrabble) not included in the schedule?

Although classics and well entrenched in the social fabric and are represented well in a variety of other conventions and venues. Many of the organizing committee enjoy playing many of these games but we would like to highlight the wide variety that exists and are not well known to the general population.

If I am interested in becoming a moderator for FallCon, what do I need to do?

First is to check out our moderator guidelines posted under Community and if you are willing and able then send us a note. We can then begin a discussion of the games that you are familiar with or willing to moderate.

I have a number of games that I would like to sell. What do I need to know to sell my collection at FallCon?

Listed under Community is our Auctions guidelines. We auction over 400+ games and the auction itself has become quite the event in its own rights. If you have games to sell then consider joining us this September.

How old do I need to be to participate at FallCon?

If you can read the rules and play the game that would be the criteria to join us at FallCon. In the past, we have had gamers as young as 12 who have demonstrated that they understand the rules, enjoy social interaction and are mature enough to seek out other gamers and respect the rules and terms of our events. If you fall in this category, then we would like to encourage you to join us (heck, bring an adult as well).

I am new to the gaming scene, are there games that I can play at FallCon?

We have always adopted a position that all of the games that we have in the schedule are open to beginners. Having said that there are some games that are not best suited for beginners and we have made an effort to identify those with a (C) notation on the schedule. Other than that, we welcome everyone to come out and jump in.  This is a great opportunity to learn about boardgames and miniatures o even to "kick the tires" of a game that you may be considering to purchase.

Don't forget that we also invite open gaming at our convention so if you would like to bring a game that you are familiar with, bring it along as there is always someone looking to join in.  Finally, we also run a number of games specifically targeted at those joust starting out. Look for these on the schedule under our Starter Series.

If you have further questions, please drop us a line and if we feel that is something that the larger gaming community needs to know, we will post it here!
