One Week to Entry Deadline

FallCon Gaming Society - Monday, January 24, 2011
A friendly reminder to those of you planning on entering our annual Canadian Game Design contest:

Deadline for entry is January 31st!

Last year, we were a little lax with the deadline but I can guarantee that won't be the case in 2011. This means you have exactly one week to submit your entry forms, rules and payments for this year's award. As most of us are either procrastinators or perfectionists (or in my case both), we expect a deluge of submissions this week. Keep in mind that in the unlikely case that we receive over 50 submissions, it will be the first 50 submissions to have paid their entry fee that will be considered eligible for this year's contest.

Best of luck to everyone! We're all very much looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Jasen

Myth-A-Con

FallCon Gaming Society - Tuesday, December 07, 2010

While natural inclinations among the FallCon Gaming Society lean more towards the boardgame and card game end of the tabletop gaming hobby, we're certainly not oblivious to other gaming genres or the various other local gaming groups. Several of our members are part-time wargamers and RPGers.

To that end, we definitely want to highlight an upcoming miniatures and RPG convention in Calgary: Myth-a-Con. Hosted by the Pirates of the Plains Fellowship, the Ultimate Gamers, and the Calgary D&D Meetup groups, Myth-A-Con is effectively an expansion of the ConViction gaming convention that has run for 10 years in Calgary.

Among other casual miniature and role playing events, attendees will be able to play Warhammer, Malifaux,  Monsterpocalypse, as well as roleplaying games like D&D (both Pathfinder and 4th Edition), Shadowrun and Living Forgotten Realms.

FallCon attendees will be familiar with the venue as Myth-a-Con will be held at the Marlborough Community Centre from January 14th to 16th, 2011.

More information and registration forms can be found at www.mythacon.ca.

Photo Galleries Up!

FallCon Gaming Society - Sunday, December 05, 2010

Our attendees and corporate sponsors have been politely inquiring about our 2010 photos. After a busy fall and some prodding from John, I can now say that the long overdue update to our Photo Galleries has been made!

For those of you who were with us, have fun reliving the memories. And for those of you who couldn't attend this year, enjoy living vicariously by flipping through the galleries.

Oh and sincere apologies for the wait!

Fallcon Interviews Alan

FallCon Gaming Society - Thursday, November 11, 2010

Fallcon interviews Alan who was one of the Canadian Game Design of the Year finalists. Here we talk to Alan about his game, That Flipping Property Game and we get some insights into his design.

Alan started his game design with his game, Check - The Chess Card Game in 2003.

Alan and Roberta were the only finalists of the Canadian Game Design of the Year Award who were in attendance at Fallcon 23. Congratulations to all the finalists!

What is Fallcon?
